HISTORY

Resource Management and Development Consultant (REMDEC) is a professional consultancy firm specializing in building the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other development actors for social transformation. Established in 1994 by social activists with experience in managing CSOs and in conducting work on community empowerment/social transformation. REMDEC aims to realize the goal for pursuing democratic and just transformation in the area of politics, economics, social and culture. Remdec's consultants have been long recognized as the experts in variuos fields from human rights, gender, public health, education, economics, advocacy, strategic management, and organizational development.

As a company, REMDEC has some principles that become its uniqueness and strength. First, its corporate share does not belong to a mere group of people but instead to all organizational elements – individual shareholders who are the representation of civil society network and actors of change from various regions in Indonesia, representation of various expertises and representation of women. Second, the share is also collectively owned by the employees and also by social organizations. These social organizations manage some of the profits gained by REMDEC for social work or community empowerment purposes. Therefore, REMDEC, hitherto, has not distributed its dividends among its shareholders. The profit it gained has been allocated to support the sustainability of transformation goals it endeavors and to ensure the organizations remain impartial. By its shareholders, REMDEC has been set as a company that conducts social vision while staying independent.

As the country decentralized, REMDEC supposes it is a mandatory for strong networking with other allies throughout Indonesia. The key hubs are in Jambi, Yogyakarta, Nusa Tenggara and Bali, Maluku, Central Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.

VISION

REMDEC is striving to build and create social condition that structurally democratic to promote equity and social-gender justice, maintain environmentally friendly, protecs and uphold human rigths, so that the marginal group in the society have enough strength, space, economic resources, political and cultural to establishes common identify and goals.

MISSION

  • To empower capacity of civil society organizations (CSO) and other development actors to strive social transformations
  • To encourage the growth of facititators assosiation in some strategic areas, in which they are helping to improve the civil society’s capacity and other development actors within the region
  • To promote new initiatives, approaches and methods, in the area of capacity building efforts and spatial development
